Santa Barbara Children’s Chorus is dedicated to teaching children with both an ability and a desire to sing. It is important that the students be as committed as we are; therefore, we have set the following guidelines:

Absences

Four absences, excused or not, will be grounds for dismissal. It is the responsibility of the student to arrange to obtain missed music instruction and notes. Any fees associated with outside rehearsal or accompaniment will be the responsibility of the student.

Tardiness

Students who are more than 5 minutes late are considered tardy. Two late arrivals will equal one absence. Please be on time.

Books/Materials

Song sheets and musical theory books are provided each term. Students are expected to bring sheet music, theory books, pencils, highlighters and a blank staff sheet book (which can be purchased at any music store) to all rehearsals. Lost music must be replaced at the student’s expense.

Uniforms

Unless otherwise provided, students will be responsible for obtaining uniforms specified by the Director.

Rescheduling

All rehearsals canceled due to holiday, staff or location conflicts will be rescheduled.

Disciplinary Procedures

The Director reserves the right to dismiss any student for disciplinary reasons. Rudeness or discourtesy to others, fighting or hitting, constant unpreparedness or repeated attitude problems are all grounds for disciplinary procedures.

Refunds

Under no circumstances will refunds be given once classes have started. Students dismissed for attendance or disciplinary reasons by the Director will not receive a refund.

Scholarships

Partial scholarships are available for a limited number of qualified students each term. These are awarded based on need and availability. Please ask for an application if you are interested in applying for a scholarship.
